Seven Things You Should Know about
the Merger Study
|
- It is a Study - not
a merger. It is about investigating what the best form of government
is to meet our future needs. The STUDY is not about change – it
is about looking at options.
|
-
We
all have a lot of questions about our options - the study is the
logical way to get answers. Knowledge is power. If you have a question,
send it to info@oneolmsted.org
|
- Grants
have been applied for at various foundations to help offset the
cost of the study.
|
- Taxes
will not change as a result of approving the study. Taxation, accountability
and service are some of the many topics to be fully evaluated by
the study commission.
|
- The
study commission is not affiliated with either the City or Township.
It is independent - elected directly by you the residents. The
Study Commission will have 10 members. Five representatives elected
by City residents and five elected by Township residents. Each
group of 5 has equal power. Their purpose is to investigate and
develop the “statement of conditions” for merger. The
entire process is governed by Ohio law (ORC 709.43).
|
- As
residents, we will have the final say about the merger in a second
vote after the study is completed.
